The 8th of July was an important date for Versity Tal-Qroqq AFC since Lino Bartolo, President of the
Swan Amateur Football League, confirmed that our team was accepted to take part in the 2008/9 season being held by the SWAN
Association.
The Swan League will present new challenges but one hopes it will also serve as a better experience
for our team. One notable change refers to use of ground where we will now be
playing on a synthetic pitch at San Gwann together with the provision of better all round facilities for the players. The
current year will see ten teams participating in the League. The first round will consist of a round robin league where all
the teams will play once against each other. After the first round, the teams will be divided into two sections with the first
five contesting for the Championship Section and the other five teams competing in the other section.
One just augurs that this change will be of benefit to Versity. Obviously the hopes are that Versity
will also manage to be among the frontrunners in competing for the honours at stake and maybe even manage to actually win
some prize at the end of the season.
